The first ten registered will be given priority and we will take a waiting list. All registered and those on waiting list must come on Saturday, September 4th to pass prerequisites. Those on waiting list who pass prerequisites will be placed in class if some who registered do not. We are using this format since so many have not passed prerequisites when we have offered previous classes.
Includes swimming 12 lengths of the pool
Swimming to nine foot end of the pool retrieving 10lb brick from the bottom and swimming on your back to the shallow end holding the brick above water.
Tread water without arms for 2 minutes
Must know First Aid/CPR and hold a current Lifeguard certificate or be willing to take a class
Lifeguard Certification
Here at the Fayette County Family YMCA we choose to train through the American Red Cross Association. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide.
